Following the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, New Orleans residents continue to struggle to find affordable housing, quality food, decent wages, support for their families, and a sense of safety in their neighborhoods.
To address these issues, build thriving communities and prevent violence, the City Council must significantly invest American Rescue Plan Act and general funds in affordable housing, violence prevention and intervention, youth development, and meeting people‘s basic needs. We need our elected officials to pass the Big Easy Deal to address the root causes of violence: systemic disinvestment, poverty, lack of economic opportunity, marginalization, and isolation through financial investment.
